An Epic in Stone and Scale
Viraat Ramayan Mandir
A visionary architectural project currently underway in East Champaran, destined to become the largest religious monument in the world, dedicated to Lord Rama and Sita.
A Modern Marvel in the Making
While Bihar preserves some of India's oldest spiritual heritage, it is also actively building its future. The **Viraat Ramayan Mandir** is an ambitious, awe-inspiring project spearheaded by the Mahavir Mandir Trust of Patna (led by Acharya Kishore Kunal).
Located in the Kaithvalia-Bahuara villages near Rajpur in East Champaran, this monumental complex is designed to surpass the height and sheer volume of the legendary Angkor Wat in Cambodia. It stands as a profound modern expression of devotion to the Ramayana epic.
Unprecedented Architectural Scale
The temple's design beautifully amalgamates the architectural styles of ancient Indian temples with the structural grandeur of Southeast Asian shrines like Angkor Wat and Prambanan. The complex will stretch across hundreds of acres and feature 18 towering shikharas, with the main spire projected to reach a staggering 270 feet.
Beyond Lord Rama, the sprawling campus will house multiple shrines dedicated to various deities, creating a cohesive, unified spiritual city. At the heart of one of these shrines will be the world's largest *Sahasralingam* (a Shiva Linga with a thousand miniature lingas carved onto its surface), carved from black granite.
A Hub of Global Devotion
The vision for the Viraat Ramayan Mandir extends far beyond brick and stone. It is designed to be a thriving center of cultural education, social welfare, and international pilgrimage.
With massive halls capable of seating thousands of devotees at once, the complex is being built to accommodate the next millennium of Sanatana Dharma's followers, serving as a global beacon for the teachings of Lord Rama.
The meticulous craftsmanship involves artisans from across India, ensuring that every pillar and frieze tells a visual story from the Ramcharitmanas.
