Situated in the historic town of Rajim, the Shree Rajiv Lochan Temple holds immense spiritual gravity due to its location at the Triveni Sangam—the confluence of three holy rivers: the Mahanadi, the Pairi, and the Sondur. Because of this powerful hydro-spiritual alignment, Rajim is reverently bestowed the title "The Prayag of Chhattisgarh." Devotees flock here to perform ancestral rites (Pind Daan) and take purifying dips, just as they would at Prayagraj.
The name of the deity, Rajiv Lochan, translates to "He whose eyes are as beautiful as a lotus," representing the most compassionate and preserver aspect of Lord Vishnu.

The Legacy of the Nala Kings
Built originally in the 8th century by King Vilasatunga of the Nala dynasty, the temple complex represents a brilliant amalgamation of Dravidian and Nagar architectural styles. The main shrine rests on twelve massive stone pillars, each spectacularly carved with lifelike figures of various deities, including the majestic Narasimha, Vamana, and Varaha avatars of Vishnu.
The presiding deity is crafted from black stone, holding the traditional conch (Shankha), discus (Chakra), mace (Gada), and lotus (Padma). The complex itself functions almost like a spiritual fortress, housing subsidiary temples dedicated to Lord Rama, Vamana, and Lord Shiva (Kuleshwar Mahadev) located dramatically on an island at the exact point of confluence.

Rajim Kumbh (Maghi Punni)
The town hosts an enormous fair beginning on Magh Purnima (Jan-Feb) and lasting until Mahashivratri. Thousands of sadhus and devotees gather for holy bathing.

Like Varanasi or Gaya, Rajim is highly auspicious for performing Shradh ceremonies. The riverbanks offer a deeply peaceful environment for meditation.

Rajim is very accessible, located just 45 kilometers from the state capital, Raipur. Regular buses and taxis are available from Raipur airport and railway station.
